AUSTIN (KXAN) — Three people were charged after a reported kidnapping in eastern Travis County where the victim was shot, beaten and left on the side of a road, according to a Travis County Sheriff's Office release. The victim was left on the side of the road in "serious medical condition," the release said.
TCSO said the kidnapping happened on Farm-to-Market Road 969 on Jan. 26.
On Thursday, law enforcement executed search warrants at two locations in Travis County and one location in Dallas in connection with the investigation. TCSO said 56-year-old Luis Montemayor, of Dallas, and Alyxandra Martinez, a 33-year-old from Austin, were arrested during the search warrants.
Martinez and Montemayor were charged with aggravated kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated kidnapping for ransom and engaging in organized criminal activity—all first-degree felonies, TCSO said.
KXAN is attempting to find attorney information for Martinez and Montemayor. This story will be updated when that information is available and if a statement is received.
TCSO said another person, 36-year-old Eugene Tae, was also connected with the incident. Tae is in custody at the Travis County Correctional Complex and engaging in organized criminal activity was added to his charges.
KXAN reached out to Tae's attorney. This story will be updated if we receive a response.
The release said law enforcement collected 36 guns and ammunition, 3 kilos of crystal methamphetamine, over $12,000 in cash, stolen credit and bank cards, stolen electronic devices and a stolen car as evidence during the search of those locations.
As of Friday, detectives were working to determine if additional suspects were involved, according to the release. The case remains open.
TCSO SWAT, TCSO VICE, TCSO Special Response Team, APD SWAT, Dallas PD, Dallas PD SWAT, Central Texas Regional SWAT, DEA, FBI, APD-ATF, APD-OCD, US Postal Inspector and Sheriff’s Combined Auto Theft Task Force were involved in the operation.
