Mumbai Indians Get Suryakumar Yadav Boost Ahead Of IPL 2024 Clash Against Delhi Capitals – WATCH
Suryakumar Yadav is coming after a long injury layoff. His inclusion will be a big plus for Mumbai Indians who have lost all their three games so far in IPL 2024.
Mumbai: Winless in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians got a big boost as star batter Suryakumar Yadav joined the training on Friday ahead of their clash against Delhi Capitals. Nicknamed as SKY, the right-hander suffered an ankle injury during India’s tour of South Africa last year in December. He also underwent a surgery to treat sports hernia. For the record, under new captain Hardik Pandya, the five-time champions lost all their three games so far. They play Delhi Capitals on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Ranked No.1 in the world in T20Is, Suryakumar unleashed his trademark shots without any visible discomfort, raising hopes that he could compete against Delhi Capitals. The 33-year-old was the first to arrive for the training session at the Wankhede Stadium, more than an hour before his teammates came for the afternoon session.
The stylish batter walked into one of the two nets and batted for more than an hour in an attempt to get his body in rhythm and getting his strokes back. He was given a go ahead by the National Cricket Academy to join Mumbai Indians a few days ago. The right-handed batter unleashed strokes in all parts of the ground while batting against throwdown specialists and spinner Kumar Kartikeya.

Suryakumar hit the ball exactly the way he wanted, middling most of his strokes and also practiced his trademark flick shot over the fine-leg region. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians are coming off a short trip to Jamnagar following their third straight loss in the tournament.
