Dallas head coach Jason Kidd has found Exum’s resurgence reminiscent of Shaun Livingston, the lanky ball-handler who joined Kidd’s 2013-14 outfit in Brooklyn, and parlayed that strong campaign into a three-year deal with the champion Golden State Warriors. Livingston was the fourth pick out of high school in 2004, a promising 19-year-old rookie, before a devastating knee and leg injury curbed his third season. “[Exum] had setbacks with injuries,” Kidd says. “Coming back and finally getting into the league. Understanding his basketball IQ is extremely high. He knows how to play the game.” -via Yahoo! Sports / March 21, 2024
Speaking on the Forgotten Seasons podcast, Boston Celtics Hall of Famer Paul Pierce said that Jason was the best player in the world during the 2001-02 NBA season. “I thought J-Kidd was the best player in the world in 2002,” said Pierce. “I mean, dude had eyes in the back of his head. The way he controlled the game, the way he passed the ball, his IQ is off the charts. He is historically, I believe, underrated. I just felt helpless on what you can do with him out there.” -via Basketball Network / March 16, 2024
