Andrew Wiggins has drawn player-for-player trade offers for Warriors
Andrew Wiggins profiles as the most likely Warrior to be dealt. He’s on the first season of a four-year, $109 million extension. The Warriors have fielded player-for-player offers for Wiggins, according to team and league sources. They wouldn’t have to attach a draft pick to get off his deal. But nothing has made them jump.

There appears to be enough interest in Wiggins where Golden State won’t have to attach draft assets. pic.twitter.com/pUtgvOfhdj – 1:27 PM

Defenses respecting Aaron Wiggins’ shot flying out to him, he zips a pass to the open Lu Dort because of it. Does not result in an assist but a really heads up play by Wiggins and also showing how the NBA is coming around on him. He gets a BEAUTIFUL step through move to go. – 9:58 PM

Fantastic pass by Cason Wallace to Aaron Wiggins for a three in the corner. Ben discussing on LOT how Wallace can do more on ball as the season goes on, and he certainly has this week. That was sweet driving baseline and kicking it out. – 9:40 PM

That is such tough timing on that awkward bounce from Vasilije Micic’s miss; Aaron Wiggins timed it perfectly for a putback. – 8:43 PM

More on this storyline
There has been no mandate from Joe Lacob and the Warriors’ ownership group to shed money, according to team sources, despite a record tax bill and 19-24 record. Even without trading Wiggins, there’s a clear path to ducking the second-tax apron this summer because of their other expiring contracts. It’s conceivable they could hold Wiggins and explore his market again in the summer, when he only has three seasons left and theoretically finished this season better than he started. -via The Athletic / January 30, 2024
Warriors reportedly will test trade market for Chris Paul, Andrew Wiggins. This is not surprising news, but with the Warriors struggling and more than one trade away from contending, questions about their next move have been raised. The Warriors will test the trade market for Chris Paul and Andrew Wiggins — and even Klay Thompson is not off the table, The Athletic’s Shams Charania said on FanDuel’s Run It Back. “They’re gonna take calls on Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul. Could they get interest even on a guy like Klay Thompson? I think those are very much open conversations for the Warriors. They have to be open-minded.” -via NBC Sports / January 30, 2024
The disorganization of the final possession ended up costing the Warriors. But the gain is revealed in hindsight. Because unlike any time before, when weighing the options of what the Warriors should’ve done, a viable alternative was for Kuminga to just go. “That’s my li’l bro, man,” Andrew Wiggins said. “I tell him all the time, ‘No one can stop you, bro. You’re too strong. Too fast. Too good with the basketball.’ And every day he’s getting better and better. His shot is getting better. His handle. Passing. He’s getting to the rim at will. That’s why I tell him he’s that guy and to keep going.” -via The Athletic / January 27, 2024
