Golden Tide Dump Moshannon Valley 61-42
AMESVILLE – The Curwensville boys basketball team has now won back to back games for the first time this season, defeating Moshannon Valley Wednesday evening on the Black Knights’ home court, 61-42, in Moshannon Valley League (MVL) play.
The Golden Tide now sport an overall record of 4-16 on the year and finish at 4-4 in the MVL..
Leading the entire game, the Tide took a nine point advantage into the second eight minutes after winning the first quarter 19-10.
Then Curwensville got defensive by allowing Moshannon Valley just nine points each in the middle two quarters while putting up a total of 31 to take a 40-28 margin into the final frame.
Ty Terry, with seven three-pointers, was high scorer for the Tide, and the game, with 28 points followed by 19 from Trevor Lansberry.
Joe Bacher led Moshannon Valley with 12 tallies on the night.
Curwensville also won the junior varsity contest, knocking off the Black Knights 24-4. High scorer for the Tide was Jayson Rowles with 15 points.
The Golden Tide also won the first time these two teams met earlier in the year at Curwensville, 53-47.
The Tide quickly return to action, traveling to Clearfield to play the Bison on Thursday evening. The JV game will start at 6 pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
In the first game of the 2019-20 season for both squads Clearfield defeated the Golden Tide, in Curwensville, by a score of 82-31.
