NFL bettors suffered a horrible bad beat thanks to a Brock Purdy kneeldown
Many bettors suffered a bad beat with Brock Purdy's rushing prop in the Super Bowl.
There are always bad beats in sports betting, but they tend to be magnified in the Super Bowl. Everyone who bet on Patrick Mahomes to go over his rushing total of 29.5 against the San Francisco 49ers the last time the Chiefs and Niners met in Super Bowl 54 distinctly remembers Mahomes running backwards on three consecutive kneeldowns to kill clock and cash the under.
Well, many bettors suffered a similar fate in Super Bowl 58 with the opposing quarterback, Brock Purdy. Purdy’s rushing yardage total was one of the most-bet props at BetMGM, and closed at 12.5. It opened at 11.5, and several other sportsbooks had it at 11.5.
Late in the fourth quarter, Purdy had two rushing attempts for 13 yards. The Chiefs drove the ball down the field for a game-tying Harrison Butker field goal with 3 seconds left, and the following kickoff went for a touchback.

That left Purdy to take a knee for minus-1 yard, which brought his rushing yardage total to 12. He didn’t have another rushing attempt in the game.
Bettors who had over 11.5 rushing yards were victorious, while those at 12.5 suffered a tough beat.
That’s why it’s always important to get the best of the number.
