Big 12 partners with U.S. Integrity to prevent prohibited sports betting: Here's what it means
The Big 12 is partnering with an integrity monitor after the latest betting scandal at a member school.
The Big 12 conference is partnering with Las Vegas-based integrity monitor U.S. Integrity in an effort to curb prohibited sports betting by student-athletes, coaches and staff, the sides announced Wednesday.
The deal comes as one Big 12 member, Iowa State, is embroiled in an ongoing investigation that implicates several student-athletes in betting violations, and after another school had possible violations earlier in the year.
“The Big 12 Conference is thrilled to partner with U.S. Integrity as a continuation of its commitment to sports betting compliance,” Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark said in a release. “Given the current landscape of sports betting in our industry, it’s more important than ever to double-down on ensuring sport integrity across our Conference.”
Let’s get into how exactly this is supposed to ensure integrity in the Big 12.
