Although powerhouse college football team Alabama has been fortunate enough to have the last two Heisman Trophy winners on its roster — DeVonta Smith in the 2020-21 season and Bryce Young in 2021-22 — it may surprise you to know that the Crimson Tide, in fact, do not have the most Heisman winners of all time.
That honor currently goes to three schools in a tie at the top: Notre Dame, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
College football’s most sought-after individual award has been given to players from those schools seven times each. However, the Sooners have, by far, the advantage when it comes to more recent winners.
Here’s a breakdown of the programs with at least two Heisman Trophy winners in the past, starting with the Fighting Irish, the Buckeyes and the Sooners. They are in alphabetical order.
