Cole Hamels made $1 million for not pitching a single inning for the Dodgers
He's done for the year.
Let me start this off by saying that this is, in no way, ripping on Cole Hamels.
It’s not the 37-year-old’s fault that he ended up signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers and then felt arm pain while throwing a simulated game on Monday as he was preparing to join L.A. for the stretch run.
And it’s rough that Hamels only pitched 3.1 innings with the Atlanta Braves due to a shoulder injury in 2020.
That said, he’ll received $1 million for pitching exactly zero games and innings for the Dodgers. That’s a lot of money!
Here’s the news from Monday, with some reaction:
Cole Hamels had arm pain again and is done for the year while the #Dodgers are on the hook for $1 million.

I guess when Cole Hamels’ 2-inning simulated game became 1 inning, there was more to it.
Hamels was placed on the 60-day injured list by the Dodgers, ending his season
