Spider-Man 3 seems to have three different titles. Why?
What. Is. Happening?!

UPDATE: After pulling a gag on Wednesday morning (explained below), Marvel and Sony announced the name of Spider-Man 3. It will be Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The Spider-Man 3 movie is going all in on playing with the number three. Not only is the movie rumored to include three different Spider-Men (Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) but the film’s top three stars (Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon) shared three different titles for the film along with real, first look photos from the set.
It’s likely that these titles are a gag, in an attempt to toy with Marvel fans. Spider-Man: Phone Home (shared by Holland), Spider-Man: Home-Wrecker (shared by Batalon) and Spider-Man: Home Slice (shared by Zendaya).
It’s hard to know, exactly, what Marvel is doing here. It’s a marketing ploy, for sure. (I’m writing about it, after all.) It could be an attempt to troll fans who have been speculating about the title since a third movie was announced. But, more intriguingly, it could also be a nod to the multiverse.
Here’s the announcement.
