NASCAR: Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway starting lineup
See who's behind pole-winner Denny Hamlin for Sunday's NASCAR race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Michael McDowell won the first race of the 2021 NASCAR season, Christopher Bell won the second and it was the first career Cup Series win for both drivers. But will we see a first-time winner for the third race of the season? Seems unlikely, but so were the results of the first two events.
Sunday’s Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway (3:30 p.m. ET, FOX) will start with Denny Hamlin — who’s won three times at the track, including the 2020 race — on the pole, and he’s joined by Joey Logano on the front row.
But those drivers didn’t qualify to start up front. Because of continuing COVID-19 concerns, practice and qualifying sessions have been eliminated at most races, and that includes the one at Homestead, a track drivers have raced on several times as the one that once hosted NASCAR’s championship weekend.
So in the absence of qualifying, NASCAR determines the starting lineup with a formula based on these factors:
25 percent: Driver’s finishing position from the previous race 25 percent: Car owner’s finishing position from the previous race 35 percent: Team owner points ranking 15 percent: Fastest lap from the previous raceSo here’s the complete starting lineup for Sunday’s Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead:
