Watch Browns vs. Broncos Live Online.
The Browns (2-5) and Broncos (2-6) have both struggled this season and will square-off Sunday afternoon. Denver leads the all-time series 23-6, but Cleveland won last year, 17-16, in the Mile High City. Prior to that game, Denver had won 11 straight meetings between the two teams. Neither squad has had the season they’ve envisioned and hope to pick up a much-needed win this weekend.

Cleveland has lost its three games, including a 27-13 defeat at the hands of the reigning Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots last weekend. Baker Mayfield threw for 194 yards, one touchdown, and one interception and was clearly frustrated after the game. Nick Chubb rushed for 131 yards, but two first-quarter fumbles proved to be costly for the Browns. Chubb’s 738 yards on the season ranks third in the NFL. Freddie Kitchens’ offense is capable of putting up points, it just hasn’t been able to find that consistency this season and it’s hard to reel off wins when your last four opponents have been the Ravens, Seahawks, 49ers and Patriots.
The offensive turnovers didn’t help the Browns defense in this game, but the team held its own against Tom Brady and the Pats offense. Brady picked up 259 yards through the air, including two touchdowns, while Sony Michel rushed for 74 yards, but failed to find the end zone. Joe Schobert led the team with 11 tackles, while Olivier Vernon and Myles Garrett each contributed a sack in the game. Schobert is fifth in the league with 73 tackles and Garrett’s 10 sacks are tied for first in the NFL with Tampa Bay’s Shaq Barrett. The Browns pass defense is their strength with opponents averaging 222.1 YPG (7th in the NFL) and should stack up well against a depleted Broncos offense.
The last time the Denver Broncos lost back-to-back games against the Cleveland Browns was in the early 1970’s. If they want to avoid that trend, they will have to do so without Joe Flacco under center. Flacco, who completed 20 of 32 passes for 174 yards, no touchdowns, and was sacked three times, is expected to miss four to six weeks with a bulging disc in his neck. After suffering a 15-13 loss against the Colts, quarterback Brandon Allen is expected to make his first career start under center. Aside from the obvious goal of protecting Allen, the offensive unit will have to put up more points than their average of 15.6, which is near the bottom in the league. Phillip Lindsay and Royce Huffman give Denver a 1-2 punch at the running back position. Courtland Sutton led the team with three catches for 72 yards against the Colts and is now the go-to guy with the departure of Emmanuel Sanders.
Denver’s defensive unit is ranked eighth in points allowed (18.9), fourth in total yards allowed (304.5), and passing yards allowed (194.8). Jacoby Brissett totaled 202 yards, but no touchdowns. A.J. Johnson led the team with eight tackles, but it was Von Miller and Derek Wolfe harassing the quarterback that made an impact. Miller had six tackles and one-and-a-half sacks, while Wolfe pitched in three tackles and two sacks. This unit has to find a way to get to Baker Mayfield and ultimately force turnovers.
