NCAA Tournament: Belmont vs Maryland Live Stream
The first afternoon of the NCAA Tournament is well underway, and another popular upset pick is coming our way. Even though #11 Belmont had to win in the First Four to advance to the Round of 64, it’s not uncommon for those teams to bust into the Sweet Sixteen using all of the momentum garnered from an early start. #6 Maryland is the perfect candidate for a slip-up, having ended the regular season poorly.

#11
The Belmont Bruins were as surprised as anyone when their name was announced on Selection Sunday to play in the First Four, and now it’s about enjoying the Big Dance and trying to go as far as possible in the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins finished first in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 25-4 record and looked ready to earn an automatic bid by winning the OVC Tournament, but they ran into an exceptional Ja Morant and Murray State and lost in the final, which seemed to end Belmont’s hopes of joining March Madness. But the committee recognized how good the Bruins were all season long and gave them a chance, so now Belmont hopes that senior Dylan Windler, the team’s leader in points and rebounds, can have one last great run as a Bruin and take them as far as possible in the tournament. Belmont defeated Temple in the First Four 81-70, with Levan Shawn Alston Jr. pouring in 21 points for the Bruins.
#6 Maryland
One win. One. Win. This is everything Maryland needs when they start their run in the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Despite having a much better record (22-10) than expected in the preseason, the Terrapins arrive in March Madness having lost three of their last four games, including a bad defeat to Nebraska in the first game of the Big Ten Tournament. Maryland hasn’t won a postseason game, in conference tournaments or the Big Dance, since 2016, and head coach Mark Turgeon wants that to change this week. The talent in the team may do it this time: forward Bruno Fernando forms a wonderful pairing with guard Anthony Cowan Jr., and their play will be key if the Terps are finally going to get a win in the tournament.
