#3 LSU
The LSU Tigers earned a No.3 seed with a stellar regular season that saw them enter the SEC tournament as the top seed. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t last long, losing their first game to No. 8 seed Florida. The Tigers will be aiming to rebound from that disappointment and make a deep run into March. With a 26-6 record, the dreams of a fifth appearance in the Final Four are very much alive. Guard Tremont Waters leads LSU in scoring and assists. They need him to avoid replicating his measly nine-point performance in the loss to Florida if their hopes are to remain intact. The Tigers hold three wins over ranked opponents this season, including one over Tennessee, who was ranked fifth in the nation at the time. Their biggest opponent right now might be their lack of a coach, as head coach Will Wade has been suspended over wiretap scandal that caused LSU officials to suspend Wade while the investigation is completed.
#11 Yale
Yale won the Ivy League tournament for the first time in school history, earning them an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The Bulldogs beat No. 1 seed Harvard 97-85 to accomplish that feat. Guard Miye Oni leads the team in scoring with 17.6 PPG. Many believe that the junior has a strong chance of becoming the first Ivy League player to be selected in the NBA Draft since 1995. This is Yale’s fourth appearance in the tournament and only their second since 1962. Their last showing in 2016 is the only time they’ve ever made it past the first round. The Bulldogs will be hoping to replicate that as the No. 13 seed in the East Region.
LSU was only recently a favorite to make a run, but with a testy matchup against Yale and no coach, this one is on upset alert. You can live stream this game – plus every minute of every NCAA Tournament game – with fuboTV. Sign up now for a free trial.
