Hodgson confident Zaha will soon be back to his best

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is confident the Eagles will soon see the best of Wilfried Zaha once again.Ivory Coast international Zaha was a target for both Arsenal and Everton during the summer and is reported to have handed in a late transfer request in the hope of pushing through a move.The 26-year-old, though, remained at Selhurst Park.After resuming domestic action following a late return from the Africa Cup of Nations, Zaha has so far failed to open his account for the new season or provide any assists.Hodgson, however, is not concerned by what he views as a temporary situation.Very few people in our teams have scored goals, weve only scored three so it is quite easy to remember who the goalscorers were, Hodgson said.As for assists it is only three possible assists, so it is probably a little unkind to start saying you are not assisting enough or scoring enough.I would say that we expect a lot more from Wilf in terms of assists and goals and I think that we are going to get it.Zaha came through the Palace youth ranks, making his debut in 2010.After joining Manchester United during 2013, he struggled to break into the first team at Old Trafford and returned to Selhurst Park, initially on loan, before rejoining on a permanent deal in 2015.Zaha is under contract with Palace until the summer of 2023, but could again see his future the subject of speculation come January.Hodgson, though, has no issues with the players current mindset.His attitude in training and the way he has approached the games, especially the last three games, he has been very good after he came over the initial disappointment that he didnt get his way in the transfer window, Hodgson said at a press conference.Once he got over that and came to terms with the fact now he has got to buckle down, for his club and his team-mates, manager, coaching staff and for himself of course, I think he has been very good.I have actually been very pleased with him in the last three games, but I cant deny the fact has hasnt had an assist or a goal.The Eagles resumed Premier League action after the international break with a 4-0 defeat at Tottenham.Palace will be out to produce a response when they host Wolves, who were in Europa League action on Thursday night.I wouldnt make any big judgements at the moment on where we are, Hodgson said.We have two home games in a row now and the mood in the squad is good, with players returning. I see it as a good moment.Midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has been passed fit from the ankle problem which forced him off against Spurs.Its quite amazing, Hodgson said. On Monday he didnt train.
