‘Just put one less burger in it?’: McDonald’s customer asks for double cheeseburger. They tell her they only have triple cheeseburgers
A McDonald's customer who tried ordering a double cheeseburger expressed confusion after being told that the chain couldn't serve her a two-patty sandwich, and that they only had triples on hand.
Brooke (@brookehwr) posted a viral TikTok about her experience, in which she says she couldn't understand why Mickey D's staff couldn't just take a patty out of her sandwich. Other TikTokers who responded to her video, however, had some ideas as to why Brooke was only given the option of receiving more beef in her order.
"I just got McDonald's, shock, but I ordered a double cheeseburger, yeah? And they went, 'Ahh, sorry, we have to give you a triple because we haven't got any doubles left,'" Brooke explains.
"What? How can you have a triple cheeseburger, but not a double? Just put one less burger in it. What do you mean? But I'm not complaining though," she continues as she laughs and shows off her triple-patty burger to the camera before happily chomping down.
A couple of commenters explained why she ended up with the triple burger instead of the double, stating that there was probably a triple that was either left out of an order or made by mistake and they didn't want to waste the food or keep it too long on the shelf before someone orders a triple and it expires, so they decided to just hand her a triple instead.

"Maccies manager here they’ve had a spare triple cheeseburger from an order that’s been sent out without it by accident and they didn’t want1/2," one person who said they were a McDonald's manager replied.
Another speculated, "It’s not that they didn’t have any doubles, that triple is a spare/been made by mistake and they’ve used that up rather than making your double and wasting the triple."
Someone else thought that Brooke was just in the right place at the right time (or wrong place, if she wanted a burger as freshly made as possible) and that she was given a spare sandwich. "Probably a spare lol i give a large popcorn instead of a reg if theres one there," they suggested.
Usually, McDonald's burgers are made to order, despite their ingredients being pre-portioned and ready for assembly. The chain states that its beef is "flash frozen" to "seal in fresh flavor," and when the patties arrive at a location via refrigerated trucks, they are thawed out and cooked on the grill per the customer's specifications.
Another commenter said that they, too, ended up with an extra patty, which is likely the result of the chain having a spare burger. They said that they were ultimately charged for a single patty, so they ended up with more meat for less. "Omg Same, once they didn’t have any normal cheese burgers left so they gave me a double for the same price I know why but for the same price," the TikToker shared.
