Police had urged anyone who lives in the area of the 600 block of Main Street to check their cameras for the sedan traveling east on Main Street around 10 pm.
A suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash in custody after investigators viewed surveillance video from the area of the incident, police said.
The fatal crash occurred just before 10 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of Main Street, in East Haven, where a pedestrian was hit by a car and killed, police said.
The vehicle, initially described as a dark colored sedan traveling east on Main Street, in East Haven, fled the area, police said. In releasing an initial description, police said the offending vehicle “should have some type of front end damage to it, possibly near the headlight assembly.”
Then, after saturating the area, a “white hatchback seen in surveillance video was located in the Autumn Ridge Apartment Complex, on Gerrish Avenue, in East Haven, and the operator was taken into custody, police said.
Neither the driver nor the victim have been identified by police yet.
