Police: Man allegedly pointed gun at officer while riding bicycle in Newington
A New Britain man is facing charges after allegedly pointing a handgun at a law enforcement officer in Newington.
A New Britain man has been charged with allegedly pointing a gun at a law enforcement officer while riding a bicycle in Newington on Friday morning, police said.
Pedro J. Leon, 33, was charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace after he allegedly aimed a handgun at an officer who was driving an unmarked vehicle, according to the Newington Police Department.
Police said Leon was riding a bicycle when he allegedly aimed the gun at the officer in the area of New Britain Avenue and Stamm Road.
Officers and firearm detection K-9s from Connecticut State Police searched the area and located Leon, though no firearm was found, according to police.
Leon is scheduled to appear in court in New Britain on April 5, police said.
