A wife and mother of two has been identified as a pedestrian killed during a car crash in Bristol last week.
Police have identified a pedestrian killed during a crash in Bristol last week as a wife and mother of two.
The Bristol Police Department on Friday identified the victim as 36-year-old Felicia Yetke, who was struck by an SUV last Thursday just before 11:45 p.m. as she began crossing Middle Street in the area of Lake Avenue.
The first officer on scene performed life-saving efforts before medics and firefighters arrived and took over medical care, police said. Yetke was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
According to police, the driver involved, who was headed south on Middle Street, stopped after the collision and cooperated at the scene with authorities. She did not report any injuries.
According to an obituary, Yetke was a wife and mother of two sons. She grew up in Bristol, graduating from Bristol Central High School in 2005, the obituary said.
Yetke was known for her “bubbly personality and infectious laughter” and was described as a “loving and selfless mother,” according to the obituary.
“Her children were the center of her universe, and she would go to great lengths to ensure their happiness and well-being, embracing every opportunity to create treasured memories with them,” the obituary stated.
“She spread joy to others as a server at Abigail’s in Simsbury for the past few years, and, prior to that was a familiar face at Mama Lukes in Farmington,” the obituary said. “As an active and dedicated individual, she found solace in running and exercise, pushing herself to new limits and inspiring others along the way. A proud member of the Peloton community, she treated herself to live classes at their New York studio on her birthday each year.”
A GoFundMe created to cover costs of a celebration of life event for Yetke and to help support her two children, a 4-year-old and an 11-month-old, had raised just under $40,000 as of Friday afternoon.
Police on Friday said they were still investigating the crash and did not have any additional information to release.
The investigation is being handled by the police department’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team. Anyone with information has been asked to contact Officer Spencer Boisvert at 860-584-3038 or spencerboisvert@bristolct.gov.
