Two CT teens arrested following disturbances at high school basketball game
Two teenagers were arrested following disturbances during a high school basketball game at Wilby High School in Waterbury on Wednesday.
Two teenagers were arrested following disturbances at a high school basketball game in Waterbury on Wednesday, police said.
Officers were assigned to security detail at Wilby High School, located at 568 Bucks Hill Road, on Wednesday for a basketball game between Wilby and Holy Cross High School, according to the Waterbury Police Department.
During the game, officers intervened in two separate disturbances between juveniles in attendance, police said. In both instances, the juveniles “were disruptive to the event and others in attendance,” according to police.
Officers attempted to deescalate the incidents, but police said the two teens continued to cause a disturbance and allegedly became physically confrontational with officers.
According to police, both teens resisted arrest. A 16-year-old female was arrested and charged with second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest. A 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with two counts of interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, and one count each of second-degree breach of peace and simple trespass, police said.
No injuries were reported during either incident, according to police.
