Police investigating double shooting in East Hartford
East Hartford police are investigating a double shooting early Thursday morning.
East Hartford police are investigating a double shooting that took place early Thursday morning.
The East Hartford Police Department and East Hartford Fire Department were dispatched to Nutmeg Lane just after 1 a.m. on Thursday on a report of shots fired, according to police.
When officers arrived at the location, they found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police said several bullet casings were located at the scene, along with a handgun, and a rifle.
The man was treated at the scene by police and fire personnel and was transported to an area hospital, according to police.
A short time later, officers were called to Philips Farm Road on a report of an adult male who was knocking on doors and asking for help, police said.
Officers were able to locate the man on Silver Lane and determined that he was also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. He was also transported to an area hospital, police said.
According to police, both men are expected to survive.
The incident is under investigation by East Hartford police detectives, including the circumstances around the shootings and the identity of both victims. Police said it appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no immediate threat to the public.
