A Connecticut State Police trooper was taken to the hospital following a crash on Interstate 91 in Meriden on Tuesday night.

The crash occurred as the trooper was pulled over on I-91 South in the left lane in the area of Exit 19 while assisting with another call just after 7:30 p.m., according to Connecticut State Police. The police vehicle had its emergency lights on at the time.
State police said a 20-year-old New York man driving a 2016 Cadillac Escalade failed to move over and struck the rear passenger side of the vehicle.
The trooper involved reported possible injuries and was taken to Hartford Hospital, according to state police.
The three occupants in the Escalade did not report any injuries, state police said.
The driver was issued infractions for driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane and failure to move over for an emergency vehicle, according to state police.
Both vehicles had to be towed following the collision.
