Speaking during the post-match coverage, Fowler expressed his deep concern over the mental state of the squad and the manager’s inability to spark a reaction.

Fowler was blunt in his assessment of the current management, arguing that the responsibility for the team’s current problems lies firmly at the door of the head coach, who he believes has failed to provide the necessary spark during difficult moments.

“Arne Slot has to get the players to be better versions of what they are. You need leaders to drag people through tough times. That’s what you need, but we are not seeing that from the manager.”

The former striker noted that he had “never seen a Liverpool team so devoid of confidence,” especially after starting the game with a positive intent that quickly evaporated after City’s opening goal.
