"No" Front launches protest on Freedom Square in Yerevan
The protest organized by the "No" Front, which opposes the Constitutional reforms, kicked off on the Freedom Square in Yerevan.
As the ArmInfo's correspondent at the scene reports, Leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisian and Heritage Party Deputy Head Armen Martirosyan, member of the Founding Parliament Jirayr Sefilyan, as well as representatives of other opposition forces are currently in the Square. Armen Martirosyan in his speech stated that Armenia faces threat of loosing independence and sovereignty. "I am afraid that in order to pass its Constitution, the country's power made a deal on Nagorno-Karabakh issue", Martirosyan said.
It is also informed that after making the speeches the protesters plan to conduct a march by the following line: Mashtots Avenue- Amiryan Street- Republic Square- Nalbandyan Street- Tumanyan Street. The protest will finish on the Freedom Square.
To recall, the New Armenia Movement and "No" Front united against Consitutional reforms and the upcoming referendum to be held on December 6. Levon Zurabyan, Head of the Armenian National Congress Faction, head the "No!" Front. The Founding Parliament coordinator Zhirayr Sefilyan leads the New Armenia Movement headquarters. He announced about the Movement's intention to launch the process of power shift from December 1. He assured that the Movement will not recede and will go till the end for reaching its goal. "In case the authorities try to use force, they will get adequate response", Sefilyan stated.
