Armenian Parliament's Vice President calls on international community to say decisive "No!" to fascism and extremism
World War II happened partly because the humanity had not learnt lessons from the War World I, as the first exertions of nazism and fascism appeared in the beginning of the 20th century, when 1.5 million Armenians were killed in Ottoman Turkey, denying and not recognizing this crime against humanity led to display of fascism and extremism later, Armenian Parliament's Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov told in his speech, made on the international forum in Saint Petersburg, dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory.
According to him, even after 70 years from World War II the humanity hasn't learnt lessons from the past, which result in display of fascism and Nazism in the Middle East. "We are all concerned with the situation in the Middle East and Islamic State's barbarities. We cannot stand idly by; we must strictly react to all exertions of fascism and nazism in any place on the planet. We condemn any exertion of terrorism, including the recent terrorist attack in Ankara", Sharmazanov said.
At the same time he noted that the South Caucasus also faces exertions of xenophobia and Nazism. "In spite of the fact that Armenia makes all the efforts to contribute to the peace and stability in the region, in South Caucasus there are states, which tense the regional situation", Armenian Parliament's Vice President noted, adding that in September of the current year civilians died at a result of this policy of the neighboring country. He also recalled that such policy of one of the neighboring countries contradicts to the statement of CSTO leaders, made in December of 2014 in Moscow.
Summarizing his speech, Sharmazanov emphasized that the memory of the World War 2 victims can be truly honored only by consolidated fight against nazism and extremism. He called on the international community to say a decisive "No" to Fascism and extremism and by objective and addressed statements to try to eradicate these exertions. "The statements of international structures related to nazism and extremism must not represent the interests of separate countries" Armenian Parliament's Vice President said.
