Union of Syrian-Armenians: Vahan Martirosyan's statements are product of insane fevered imagination
There are no terrorists or criminals among Syrian- Armenians. Syrian-Armenians actively participate in Armenia's political, economic and cultural
life making their contribution to the country's development. A joint statement of "Center for Coordination of Syrian -Armenian issues", Allepo and Kesab communities says in response to Vahan Martirosyan statement made in Baku.
The organizations called the head of Armenian Intra-national Liberation Movement Vahan Martirosyan mentally disturbed person in
their statement. They also emphasized that Syrian-Armenians were very warmly greeted in Armenia. " Related to the financial support
provided by the Government of Armenia, it is transferred to our accounts, which we totally control. Armenian Government, Ministry of
Diaspora and other institutions provide funds only from the national budget and no fund-raising is conduced for these purposes," the statement says.
To note, Vahan Martirosyan, head of Armenian Intra-national Liberation Movement, asked for political asylum in Azerbaijan and was
accepted. In his September 18 interview to the Azeri media, he spoke about the persecution and pressure he faced in Armenia. Answering a
question about Syrian refugees he said that around 15,000- 20,000 refugees, mostly of Armenian origin, came to Armenia. "Witnessing all
the horrors in Armenia, the majority of them left immediately," said Martirosyan. "Groups for sending to Nagorno-Karabakh are created from the rest. I have been in Karabakh and have seen it myself".
