National Security Service of Armenia blames MP Zaruhi Postanjyan for provocative statements
National Security Service (NNS) of Armenia blames Zaruhi Postanjyan, an Armenian parliamentarian from Heritage Party Faction, for provocative statements.
"On September 18, 2015, Postanjyan made provocative statements in the National Assembly. Taking the post of the Head of Heritage Party
Faction, Postanjyan decided to do it pompously and excelled herself attempting to violate the permissible legal framework of the political fight. She must be brought responsible for her words and actions," the NSS said in a statement.
At the same time, the NSS says that the politicians who are unaware of the high role of the security agencies in the strengthening of the
country needs to understand that the National Security Service is neither "KGB" nor "NKVD."
"A big number of patriots served and keep serving here and with their everyday heavy work provide services, including to Ms. Postanjyan. To
avoid emotional disputes, the NSS of Armenia just recalls that the phrases like 'failure,' 'destruction of territories' and similar
calls are punishable in line with the Criminal Code of Armenia and directly concern the NSS's tasks. Hence, we emphasize that such kind of calls will be stopped by all legal methods," the statement reads.
Earlier on Sept 18, the head of the faction Heritage Zaruhi Postanjyan offered people to stand up and fight against
constitutional reforms and the authorities. "We need to walk along Melik Adamyan Street (Republican Party office is located) and Nalbandian Street (National Security Service is located) and destroy the Bastille - KGB and NSS," Postanjyan said.
