EU wishes to contribute to resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
The European Union wishes to contribute to the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within its capabilities by supporting the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, Herbert Salber, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia said today at a meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in Yerevan.
President Sargsyan was quoted as saying by his press service that Armenia emphasizes the work of the EU Special Representative, whose main goal is to create an atmosphere of trust between the parties to the Karabakh conflict for its peaceful settlement, which, in turn, can best contribute to the efforts made by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group towards the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
The two men were said to have spoken also on Armenia-EU relations, the latest parliamentary elections in Armenia, as well as the implementation of new reforms launched by the new Armenian government.
Salber was said to have noted with satisfaction the successes recorded in the relations between Armenia and the EU in the recent period, noting the visit of the Armenian President to Brussels in February 2017, during which it was announced that the negotiations on the Armenia-EU comprehensive and enhanced partnership agreement had been finalized and the agreement had been initialed in March in Yerevan. -0-
