Yerevan, Tehran, Ashkhabad intend to develop economic cooperation
Karen Karapetyan, Armenian prime minister, received Monday Seyyed Kazem Sajjad and Muhammetniyaz Mashalov, Iranian and Turkmen ambassadors to Armenia, the press office of Armenia’s government reports.
Karapetyan said that it can be placed on record that Armenia’s political relations with Iran and Turkmenistan are highly-developed, and this lays groundwork for strengthening also economic ties and also for establishing a trilateral economic activity.
“We are interested in development of trilateral economic cooperation…” he said. “We have an opportunity to build up trade turnover among our countries, and this first in 2017 working meeting shows the importance we attach to our cooperation.”
The ambassadors congratulated the prime minister and Armenian citizens on New Year holidays and said their countries’ governments’ are interested in cooperation with Armenia as well and they are ready to discuss cooperation prospects.
Prospects for developing trilateral partnership in energy industry and implementing joint projects were discussed at the meeting.
Karapetyan stressed the importance of intergovernmental commissions, which are effective platforms for putting good initiatives into practice.
The premier also offered condolences to the Iranian ambassador over the former Iranian president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani death. -0---
