Armenian government approves draft agreement on EEU customs code
The Armenian government on Thursday has approved a draft agreement on the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).
The draft Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union has 900 pages. This is the first document that was prepared in close and active cooperation with the business communities of all member states of the economic bloc.
In this regard, the head of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee Vardan Harutyunyan said the Customs Code incorporates new approaches to informatization of customs operations. It also introduces a more convenient for businesses algorithm of interaction with government agencies.
According to him, the EEU Customs Code provides that all customs procedures will be governed by single sample documentation. It also envisages transition of process of customs declaration to electronic format, which will greatly facilitate and speed up all customs clearance procedures.
"The EEU Customs Code also stipulates that Armenia will be given the opportunity to create a free economic zone, which will significantly increase its investment attractiveness ", - said Harutyunyan.
In this regard, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan noted that this document is very important, and must be adapted to the existing Armenian legislation. -0-
