Armenian farmers urged to protect their orchards from snaps of cold
A deputy minister of agriculture Garnik Petrosyan has called today on Armenian farmers to prepare for forecasted snaps of cold to save their fruit orchards.
Because of high daytime and nighttime temperatures in February apricot trees in Ararat valley began blossoming in the first decade of March. According to him, the blossoming continues, and in some places this process is already over.
He added that on March 17 overnight temperature is expected to drop to 2 degrees below zero and may damage the trees. Below zero temperatures will continue on March 17 and 18 nights and this is why farmers need to take care of their fruit trees with the help of smoke and irrigation. -0-
