Drop in foreign trade blamed on lower demand for Armenian goods outside the country
Armenia’s finance minister Gagik Khachatryan blamed the 20.6% decline in foreign trade in the first 11 months of 2015 on lower demand for Armenia-manufactured goods outside the country.
YEREVAN, December 30. /ARKA/. Armenia’s finance minister Gagik Khachatryan blamed the 20.6% decline in foreign trade in the first 11 months of 2015 on lower demand for Armenia-manufactured goods outside the country. Speaking at his last news conference in the outgoing year the minister said the country’s foreign trade, according to updated statistical data, in January-November 2015 dropped to about $4.313.6 billion.According to the minister, the decline in imports was caused by a drop in domestic demand, as well as by devaluation of currencies.
According to official numbers, Armenian exports in the first 11 months fell by 4.7% year-on-year to $1.345.2 billion, while imports decreased by 26.2% to about $2.968.4 billion. As a result, the negative balance of foreign trade amounted to $1. 623.2 billion.-0-
