Armenia's state budget for 2020 has doubled the amount to be released to finance the military-industrial complex to 6.3 billion drams, High Tech Industry Minister Hakob Arshakyan said on Wednesday.
According to him, of that amount some 3.8 billion drams will be used to finance research, expertise and design work, and 2.5 billion drams are earmarked as capital investments.
"We intend to gradually shift the focus from research to development of specific products, and therefore, capital expenditures will increase in 2020. These will be the so-called capital investments of the state in the development of the military-industrial complex," Arshakyan said.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the financing of the military and industrial complex will be increased by 114% in 2020. ($1- 477.44 drams) -0-
