Group of specialists to find out causes of energy blackout in Armenia
Upon his return to Armenia from Belarus, Armenian Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Minister Suren Papikyan met Thursday with officials responsible for energy sector to identify causes of yesterday’s breakout, the ministry’s press office reports.
According to the press report, a group of specialists was set up on Papikyan’s order to find out the causes.
Yesterday’s major blackout in the capital city Yerevan and several provinces was caused by an accident in the country’s energy system.
The Yerevan Thermal Power Plant (TPP) and the 5th power unit of the Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant were disconnected from the power grid and more outages are possible throughout the country.
Power outages began throughout Yerevan and in several regions of Armenia leading to disruption of water supplies. Payment terminals do not work either. The work of the Yerevan Metro has been suspended.
Things were put right later that day. --0---
