Speaking to reporters, Aharon Adibekyan, the head of Sociometer polling center, described Sargsyan as the only politician in Armenia able to mobilize the country's political resources in the event of challenges, the most important of which are the foreign policy situation and the situation in the region, as well as the economic situation in the Eurasian Economic Union, following a string of Western sanctions imposed on Russia.br

Sargsyan resigned as president on April 9. Armenia’s new constitution approved in a 2015 referendum makes the prime minister the country’s most powerful figure. Sargsyan was elected as prime minister during a special session of parliament on Tuesday by a vote of 77 to 17.-br

Adibekyan also argued that Sargsyan will not reshuffle the governing administration and will leave almost the same people in the government due to lack of skilled personnel.br

Adibekyan added that for the sake of the national interests Sargsyan may start a dialogue with the opposition. -0-br
