Armenian government to move working day to celebrate Easter and Merelotz

The decision is prompted by the religious feast of nbsp;the Resurrection (Easter) to be celebrated in Armenia nbsp;on the 1st of April and the Day of Remembrance of the Dead (Merelotz), which follows Easter. The decision is expected to be approved by a cabinet session slated for March 6.br

The day dedicated to the commemoration of the deceased follows each of the five major holidays of the Armenian Apostolic Church - Holy Christmas and Baptism, Holy Resurrection of Christ, Transfiguration of the Lord (Vardavar), Assumption of the Blessed Virgin and Exaltation of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord.br

Merelotz was first declared a non-working day by a government decision on June 26, 2008, at the suggestion of the Armenian Apostolic Church. -0-br
