Krasnoyarsk Krai Governor Alexander Uss resigned
Alexander Uss has announced on his Telegram channel that he will continue working at the federal level, with a focus on the socio-economic development of Krasnoyarsk Krai. This new role was offered to him by Vladimir Putin.
In the meantime, Vladimir Putin has appointed Deputy Finance Minister Mikhail Kotuykov as the new head of Krasnoyarsk Krai.
Born in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Alexander Uss has had an extensive political career, having worked in the regional administration since 1993. He has also served as a Federal Assembly member, deputy governor, and a member of the regional Legislative Assembly. In 2002, he became the head of the regional parliament. In 2017, Putin appointed Uss as Acting Governor, and he won the election a year later.
However, in October 2022, Alexander Uss's son, Artem Uss, was detained in Italy on an international warrant for illegal transactions and money laundering. In early April, the governor's son managed to escape from house arrest in Italy to Russia. Alexander Uss called his son's detention "political" and thanked those who helped Artem Uss escape.
