Lyon hopeful over Lopes for Sevilla clash
Lyon coach Bruno Genesio is optimistic goalkeeper Anthony Lopes will be fit for Wednesday's crucial Champions League encounter against Sevilla after he was struck by a firecracker at the weekend.
The Portugal international, 26, suffered "traumatic hearing loss" after Metz fans threw firecrackers onto the pitch during Saturday's Ligue 1 fixture, which was subsequently abandoned with just 31 minutes played.
"He's slowly recovering from the emotions and shock he went through on Saturday. He's going to train and then we'll see on Wednesday morning whether he can play or not," Genesio told reporters on Tuesday.
"We've talked with him a lot since (the incident). We'll see his reaction after this evening's training session and then how things go through the night because he's had a lot of trouble sleeping since Saturday.
"Sleep is one of the most important parts of the recovery process. He needs rest. I hope he will be present and 100 percent."
Lyon are third in Group H ahead of the final round of matches and must beat Sevilla by at least two goals at Parc OL to qualify for the last 16.
