Bad taste: Toronto sex banner taunt meets social media and Montreal censure
August 30 -Toronto FC have apologised to rivals Montreal Impact after a “disgraceful” banner portraying a woman seemingly performing a sex act was displayed during Saturday’s Major League Soccer clash.
A club statement has asked fans to help identify who was responsible for the banner which it described as “an embarrassment” and “insulting to many, including our opponent”.
Impact beat MLS Eastern Conference leaders and Canadian rivals Toronto 1-0 with a 73rd-minute Ignacio Piatti goal but the victory was overshadowed by the x-rated banner which drew a furious reaction on social media.
