Andrias Ghukasyan urges Zhirayr Sefilyan to form a government of public confidence
Andrias Ghukasyan, the arrested coordinator of the New Armenia movement, urges Founding Parliament movement leader Zhirayr Sefilyan to turn into reality the idea of a public confidence government and snap presidential election.
"I think it's time to turn our ideas into reality. I am sure all political prisoners will join this call," Ghukasyan said, urging people to take part in the September 2 rally in Liberty Square.
To recall, Andrias Ghukasyan was detained on July 29 during the antigovernment demonstrations when the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoon) group seized a police compound in Yerevan. He faces charges under Article 225.1 (organization of mass unrest) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. Andrias Ghukasyan started his hunger strike on August 1. "I am a political prisoner and I demand that people should establish a constitutional order in Armenia and restore justice with all possible methods," Ghukasyan says. On August 24, the Court of Appeal did not satisfy the motion on changing the measure of restraint against Ghukasyan and setting him free on bail.
