Zhoghovurd: Preparations for sale of Yerevan heat station under way
The Yerevan Heat Station company’s debt to Gazprom totals $52.3m.
Armenia’s government is owner of the company, which means it is the government’s debt, that is, Armenia’s debt.
Since autumn 2013, Armenia’s government has transferred property worth hundreds of millions of US dollars to Gazprom, allegedly as a means of covering its debts.
Thus, Armenia’s government transferred it 20% share in ArmRusGasprom to Russia.
As a result, ArmRusGasprom was renamed Gasprom-Armenia.
The information of the Yerevan Heat Station company’s debt is noteworthy as previous deals were effected under similar pretexts.
Time will show if Armenia’s authorities are making preparations for sale of the Yerevan Heat Station company.
In response t the newspaper’s question as to the amount and causes of the debt, Shushan Sardaryan, Head of the PR Department, Gasprom-Armenia, said that it is commitments under a contract between two economic entities. The Yerevan Heat Station company has fulfilled some of its commitments. Relevant discussions are under way.
