RE-IPOB names Kanu’s replacement, issues 15-man list of representatives

– The new pro-Biafra group names a new leader, listed personalities to negotiate with Buhari

– The RE-IPOB promised to protect its people and establish a security arm

– Professor Soyinka, Chief Ohakim, Bishop Chukwuma are expected to lead talks for Biafra independence

The new pro-Biafra group that emerges from the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has chosen a new leader and unveiled the list of personalities for the negotiations for the independent state of Biafra.

RE-IPOB in a statement signed by its spokesman Ikemba Biafra said that new leader, Jonathan Kurubo comes from Bayelsa state as a true son of Biafra who believes in the cause and dignity of the marginalized people of the old eastern region.

The statement reads: “Kurubo who is a graduate of international Universities with versatile knowledge of International relations, peace and conflict resolution as well as strategic studies, will pilot the affairs of the RE-IPOB until Biafra is actualized or the Nigerian government demonstrates its sincerity to fully re-integrate the people of Biafran through negotiations.”

The group called on the people of Biafra to support the new leader and released a list of the prominent Nigerians and elders of Biafra who are expected to lead its negotiation with the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The list comprise:

1. Dr Arthur Nwankwo,

2.Dr kenneth Opigo,

3. Dr. Okey Emordi,

4. Barr. Uche Okwukwu,

5. Obong Victor Attah,

6. Prof Nwankwo Nwaezeigwe,

7. Chief Bassey Akpan,

8. Prof Mrs Uche Azikiwe,

9. Prof Wole Soyinka,

10. Uchenna Madu,

11. Prof Jerry Gana,

12. Chief Ikedi Ohakim,

13. Representative of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council,

14. Representative of Umuada Igbo,

15. Bishop Emmanuel Chukwuma who is expected to lead the delegation.

“We warn that RE-IPOB is not negotiating out of fear. Our position is not out of cowardice, we want peace. Butthe federal government should return our goodwill and readiness for talks with honesty and sincerity. Nnamdi Kanu should henceforth desist from issuing any statement on behalf of Biafra in his own interest,” the statement added.

RE-IPOB advised security operatives to stop assaulting or killing its members as its security arm, Ogbunigwe, has been set up to protect Biafra people.

It’s the third group that claimed to be reckoned with for the call for a Biafran State.

The group claimed that there is nothing like Indigenous People of Biafra led by the detained Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

It also said that the faction, The Rebranded Indigenous People of Biafra which emerged days before it, has no right to speak for Biafra.
