Naij.com takes a look at activities of the Islamist terror group, Boko Haram this week so far (Sunday, February 21 – Friday, February 26). The insurgents group who were described by Nigeria’s minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed as “technically defecated” have continued to show its strength consistently.
Lai Mohammed, insists that Boko Haram has been technically defeated
On Sunday, February 21, two suspected Boko Haram terrorists sneaked into the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Borno state.
The two men, Audu Umar and Hassan Umar were nabbed by the Nigerian military after smuggling themselves into the camp of the displaced persons brought in from Pulka to Gwoza.
On Tuesday, February 23, a video of a woman who was arrested for allegedly supplying guns to Boko Haram went viral. According to the clip, the woman was being interrogated by soldiers, after hiding guns in bags of garri.

On Wednesday, February 24, Nigeria’s military forces recorded a major victory against Boko Haram sect in its war against terrorism after further decapitating the fighters in a recent raid.
According to information made available to Naij.com, about 20 of the terrorists were killed during the raid as the Nigerian troops advanced in its Lafiya Dole operation in the country’s northeast.
The Nigerian army on Wednesday, February 24, reported that following dislodgement of Boko Haram terrorists camps in the border towns of Kumshe and Talala by joint operations of Nigerian and Cameroonian forces, the terrorists made a futile attempt on Dikwa.
According to a statement by army spokesman, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the terrorists tried causing havoc at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp located at Dikwa. However, unknown to the fleeing Boko Haram terrorists, the armed forces special forces in blocking positions decisively dealt with the terrorists; killing many, recovering vehicle, arms and ammunition.
On Thursday, February 25, a heavy explosion occurred at the Jimeta Divisional Police Headquarters, in Yola, Adamawa state, which claimed the lives of four people and injured an unspecified number of others.

Many police officers are believed to have been killed in the incident, which was suspected to have been carried out by suicide bombers.
On Friday, February 26, the army rescued 1,890 persons held captive by Boko Haram terrorists at various locations within the last two weeks.
According to a statement by army spokesman, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, those rescued include 800 Nigerians refugees that crossed to Cameroon that were brought back to Banki town in Nigeria by troops of 21 Brigade on Thursday.
During the course of the week, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US assistant secretary for the Bureau of African Affairs, claimed that the anti-Boko Haram battle would require time, perseverance and huge resources.
She further stated the importance of identifying insurgency causes to develop reasonable solutions. These resources should be directed both at eliminating terrorism and restoring normal life in the region.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Salkida, the Nigerian journalist known to have access to the Boko Haram leaders, revealed all the truth about the current state of the war against the insurgents.
He claimed that the news that the deadly Boko Haram sect is hungry, disoriented, and on the run according to the Minister of Information Lai Mohammed obviously shows a direction wide away from reality, says top level security source.
In another development, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai secretly met with elders in Borno state. He vowed to ensure that all the Chibok girls are rescued along with all other hostages held by the Boko Haram terrorists, with the freedom of the school girls to be treated as top priority.
Buratai stated that the army’s target of defeating Boko Haram has been achieved except for a few setbacks and assured that the military is determined to complete the clearance of the remnants of the terrorists.
