Rest in Hell, dear pastor – Nigerians react to Supreme Court judgment on Rev King
Nigerians have reacted to the Supreme Court’s sanction Reverend King Ezeugo’s ‘death by hanging’ sentence.
Few hours ago, Nigeria’s apex court ruled that the initial death sentence on him by a federal high court stands after vacating the 20-year jail handed him by a federal high court in Lagos.
Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, the lead judge ruled that the death sentence by the Lagos court be upheld. Justcie Ngwuta said the facts against Rev. King is like such that is seen in a horror movie.
Ngwuta further stated that the appeal lacked merit thus case discharged.
The general overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly in Lagos was sentenced to death by a Lagos high court after he was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder and murder.
And Nigerians have in their characteristic way, reacted to the latest decision by the Supreme Court, noting specifically that the embattled pastor should rest in hell when the ruling is effected.

And on Facebook, Nigerians did not spare the pastor any word as they lashed out at him, stating emphatically that he should rest in hell after the sentence has been carried out on him.
Helios Love, one of the commentators, said: “Mr. King please when you get to Hell make sure you lock the gate well so that this heat in Africa will stop, because it seems like the last person who went there didn’t lock the gate well. Bon voyage!”
A telemarketer who goes by the name Ever Alfred, was quite sarcastic in his reaction as he stated in pidgin English, that he did not know that the pastor was still alive after hearing about the judgment.
“I think say this Idiot don die since,A lesson to others like you…REST IN HELL,” he said.
On his part, Chukwumezie Chikodi was quite livid with anger as he stated with anger that Reverend King was never a man of God but an evil man from the pit of hell.
According to him, “so this Evil Man is stil alive! hmmm! rest in peace in Advance. you are never a reverend but a Evil man from the pit of hell. burning your church members with petrol and matches.”
Lagos-based Iyke Obinna insists that Reverend King is worse than who people call him, saying that RIP is not enough to describe someone of his nature, but that, “He dat kill by sword will die by sword. PLZ LET NO MAN SAY RIP TO HIM. BUT DIE HARD.”
King had pleaded not guilty to the allegation of murder initially leveled against him, but on January 11, 2007, he was sentenced to death by Justice Joseph Oyewole of Lagos state high court in Ikeja, for the murder of one of his church members, Ann Uzoh.
The controversial cleric had reportedly poured petrol on Uzoh and five others, and set them on fire leading to the death of Uzoh and serious injuries to the others.
King was convicted and sentenced to death by hanging for the murder charge and 20 years imprisonment for the attempted murder charges.
