Prime Minister deserves same kind of condemnation as Konrad Mizzi - Simon Busuttil
The Prime Minister deserves the same kind of condemnation at Konrad Mizzi because he is maintaining Dr Mizzi’s defence, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil said this afternoon.
Dr Mizzi has admitted owning a trust in New Zealand and a company in Panama, a blacklisted tax haven.
Speaking on Net TV, Dr Busuttil said Dr Muscat was still refusing to say when Dr Mizzi had set up his company in Panama because it did not suit him to answer the question.
He said he was disgusted at what Dr Mizzi had done, at the support he was finding from the Prime Minister and at the fact that the country was managed by these people.
It was wrong and unacceptable for a minister to set up a company in a dirty tax haven, Dr Busuttil said.
It was also wrong an unacceptable that this was done when Dr Mizzi was a minister who did not have a significant income to justify it, had major projects under his wing and had not published any of the contracts he signed.
This was not a problem for the Prime Minister and Dr Mizzi had now been promoted to the Labour Party’s deputy leader and was still trusted with major projects.
Because of this, Dr Muscat deserved the same kind of condemnation.
