Police in the Eastern Cape have warned members of the public who bought cars from a renowned car trader that they may have to return them following the man’s arrest.
|||Johannesburg – Police in the Eastern Cape have warned members of the public who bought cars from a renowned car trader that they may have to return them following the man’s arrest on charges of vehicle hijacking and selling of suspected stolen motor vehicles.
Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said Kenny Kayle Mokoena, 29, allegedly hijacked around 30 vehicles and sold them to various buyers in the province.
Manatha said that Mokoena was arrested and initially charged with the theft of six vehicles.
“He has appeared before the Butterworth Magistrates Court on Tuesday,” he said.
Mokoena’s case was remanded to Tuesday March 1 for further investigations and was ordered to remain in custody.
People who bought a vehicle from Mokoena were urged to contact Captain Mntunzima Nyengula from the Queenstown VIS unit.
