Victoria Beckham unveils her 'fun - but not too much fun' VVB fashion line

These are the first pictures from Victoria Beckham’s more affordable fashion line, which the pop star-turned designer calls “fun - but not too much fun”,

She prefers not to stage a traditional catwalk show during London Fashion Week and instead talks fashion insiders through key pieces within her flagship store in Mayfair.

She said the Victoria Victoria Beckham line (known as VVB) was about exploring “the other side of her wardrobe, adding “my customer is growing up with me.”

While the key pieces from Beckham’s mainline offering come with price tags which exceed four figures, the most expensive item in the new VVB collection is a handmade coat which will retail for £1,395 – most are under £800.

“From the start, this has been about creating something that bridges the gap between denim and my mainline - and about doing so within an achievable price point,” she said.

“It’s about being fun but not too much fun.”

Accordingly, this latest offering sees upbeat floral embroidery and a bold colour palette presented on a highly wearable separates. Rainbow coloured raffia flowers are woven into knitwear and mid-length cocktail dresses while digital forest prints appear on t-shirts and thigh-high dresses. 

The offering also sees Beckham move out of its comfort zone with leathers and shearlings in pistachio and zesty orange. A vibrant gingham check also features. 

Beckham, who is always first to acknowledge the fact that her collections are an amalgamation of the clothes she likes to wear, also showcased her signature flared trouser in a number of new colourways.

Newly christened ‘the Victoria’, the trousers are presented alongside a new ‘tuxedo’ category which includes a host of typically Beckham eveningwear ensembles including one beautiful black trapeze dress.

A fashion mimic with a determination to keep up with the current zeitgeist, Beckham also unveiled an homage to of-the-moment brand Vetements with her own take on the cropped jeans trend.

Since taking the decision to blend her successful denim line into the VVB offering last year, Beckham has seen her £15 million business significantly boosted. Not least by fans of Brand Beckham – who at last, are able to stretch to a piece from the collection – but by department stores who find the seasonless nature of the VVB line one that particularly appeals to their customers. 

“Since the very start, I’ve always tried to think globally with the collections” Beckham said yesterday, adding: “After all, winter in Miami is different from winter in London. And as someone who travels a lot, I know what works and what doesn’t.”

Beckham, who presented her mainline offering in New York earlier this month, was joined in her store yesterday by husband David.
