343 prison inmates to write 2016 JAMB examination
-The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that 342 prison inmates have registered for the 2016 UTME
-The board noted that 201 visually impaired candidates have also registered for the examination
-Abuja, Zamfara, Yobe are said to have the lowest number of candidates for the 2016 UTME

No fewer than 343 prison inmates have registered for the 2016 unified tertiary matriculation examination (UTME) scheduled for next week.
In a statement signed by the registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Dibu Ojerinde on Thursday, February 25, the board informed that 201 visually impaired candidates also registered for the examination adding that adequate arrangement have been provided to ensure a hitch-free process.

Ojerinde stated that registered prison inmates will have access to computers at both the Kaduna and Ikoyi prisons.
He said that Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Zamfara and Yobe states are said to have the lowest number of candidates enrolment with the figures, 5,069, 7,254 and 12,079, respectively, for the forthcoming JAMB examination scheduled to take place this Saturday.

Similarly, Imo, Osun and Oyo states are the top three states with the highest number of applications for the JAMB examination with the figures, 102,727, 83,060 and 81,06, respectively.
Ojerinde disclosed that a total number of 1,589,175 candidates applied for the 2016 UTME adding that this year’s 2016 UTME figure shows an increase of 113,673 applicants as compared with last year’ figure of 1,475,477.
