Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has sacked Ropo Ogunjobi, the chairman of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) over multimillion naira fraud allegedly uncovered in the agency.
According to a report on The Nation, Ogunjobi’s role in the alleged multimillion naira fraud has angered Fayose, as he also doubles as the governor’s special adviser on revenue matters.

A statement signed by Dr. Modupe Alade, the secretary to the state government reads: “Ogunjobi was removed for negligence.”
It was learnt that two persons were apprehended by agents of the state government as they were alleged to be prime culprits in the alleged theft.
The two suspects handed over to the Police by Fayose are a revenue officer, Omotayo Ojo and a printer, Akinniyi Akinsola
According to Fayose, the duo worked together to print fake revenue receipts as well as issuing fake tax clearance certificates to unsuspecting residents.
However, Fayose has warned the people of Ekiti state to stop paying money directly to any revenue officer but to pay through the designated banks.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti state has urged the Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase to prosecute Governor Ayo Fayose.
In a petition signed by Olajide Awe, its state party chairman, APC also called on Arase to investigate the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Bala Nasarawa, former Ekiti Mobile Police (MOPOL) Commander, Gabriel Selenkere and other officers named in the alleged criminal manipulation of the June 21, 2014 governorship election in Ekiti state.
