– Experts and major stakeholders gather at day three of the 2016 Social Media Week in Lagos to discuss viable strategies on moving the Nigeria music industry forward
– Online streaming platforms and the benefits of digital media in the growth of music were some of the key issues analysed
– Music veterans MI Abaga, Sound Sultan and Lanre ‘eLDee’ Dabiri were some of the guests in attendance
As the Nigerian music industry continues to grow in leaps and bounds, key members and stakeholders gathered together at the 2016 Social Media Week Lagos to discuss viable ideas for further growth and sustainability of the industry.
Various interesting as well as engaging sessions were hosted today, February 24, by urban Lagos radio station Beat FM and the crew from Social Media Week Lagos.
The event, which has as held all week, took place at the Landmark Centre, plot 5B, Water Corporation Road, Oniru, VI, Lagos.

It started on Monday February 22, 2016 and has featured a host of experts in various fields who have engaged the audience in thorough sessions as they dissected topical issues revolving around digital media and digital marketing vis-à-vis the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Key issues such as touring and merchandising, maximizing YouTube channels and Soundcloud as well as artiste endorsements were discussed.
Other areas touched include collection of royalties, digital music sales, public performance and streaming royalties.
Basically, the idea of this session was to awaken Nigerian artistes on strategies through which they can duly leverage on technology to push their crafts, as well as increase returns on investments given the growing online consumers and audience base.
Key questions were asked in respect to the effects of online streaming platforms and their benefits thus far in growing the fledgling Nigerian music industry just as answers were duly provided.
It was a truly refreshing experience.
